As an Ambassador for Triumph Foundation, I agree to:
*
Develop & raise awareness about spinal cord injury, people with disabilities and Triumph Foundation.
Be friendly and inclusive to others with spinal cord injury or related disabilities.
Practice good conduct in the community when representing Triumph Foundation. Ambassadors will follow a business casual dress code, avoid vulgarity & maintain good hygiene.
Build relationships and act as the liaison between local hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community partners for Triumph Foundation, collecting email contacts from anyone interested.
Notify Triumph of opportunities to expand in my area.
Regularly attend the monthly Triumph Ambassador meetings.
Attend Triumph SCI Support Groups and other activities in my area as often as possible.
Retain a familiarity with current Triumph Resources & Programs.
Ambassador will follow Triumph Standard Operating Procedures when delivering Care Packs and participating in Support Groups.
The Ambassador’s role as a peer mentor is to respond to the mentee’s needs and agenda; it is not to impose their own agenda.
Ambassadors will adhere to the mandates of HIPAA policy to secure the privacy and confidentiality of those people utilizing Triumph Foundation services.
Ambassadors will not intrude into areas the mentee wishes to keep private. They should, however, help the mentee recognize how issues may relate to these areas.
Ambassadors’ relationship with mentee and others within the organization should not be exploitive or coercive in any way or be open to misinterpretation. Ambassadors will avoid being alone where they can be accused of misconduct. Any incident or conflict that occurs in the mentoring relationship must be reported to Triumph Foundation within 24 hours.
Ambassadors should never work beyond the bounds of their capability, experience, and expertise to the point where they do not feel confident in providing the mentee with proper support. Where appropriate, Ambassadors should seek advice or refer to another point of contact at Triumph Foundation leaders. The Ambassador should give the mentee the freedom to “dissolve” the mentoring relationship at any time, although the Ambassador should never abandon their mentee without notifying Triumph leadership.
Ambassadors will keep confidential the information that is discussed with the mentee. At no time will an Ambassador disclose any part of the relationship to any person, organization or whosoever, outside of Triumph Foundation, without the explicit agreement of the mentee and Triumph Foundation leadership, except in isolated cases, in which the patient is at risk of harm to self or others.
Ambassadors will maintain their professional competence through participation in continuous professional development, such as attending Triumph Foundation’s annual Ambassador Trainings at a minimum of every-other-year.
Ambassadors should not appear intoxicated or in altered mental state due to any substance while meeting with a mentee, or at Triumph-sponsored events.
Ambassadors should maintain political neutrality, and not advocate for any one party or politician.
Ambassadors shall abide by State and Federal Anti-Harassment / Discrimination laws.
Ambassadors will notify Triumph Foundation of any criminal history, provide a full explanation of conviction or pending criminal charges. (This will not necessarily disqualify you from volunteering. Each situation will be considered on its own merits.)
Ambassadors agree to participate in a background check if asked.
The Ambassador and Triumph Foundation may dissolve this relationship at any time.
I HAVE READ THE ABOVE CODE OF CONDUCT AND SIGN IT VOLUNTARILY.
