William Says “Let’s Go!”

"A simple tool like a handcycle can make all the difference."

You gotta take a look at William's new bike!

Back in 2017, a devastating car accident left 7 year-old William with a C-4 spinal cord injury.

Triumph Foundation had the privilege of meeting him during our Alcance de Navidad at Rancho. This marked the beginning of a meaningful relationship with William and his family.

Fast forward to today, William is now 14 years old and able to walk again using a cane!

We are so proud of him. William is no longer that little third grader we first met. He's starting a new chapter in his life - entering high school as a freshman - and he aspires to achieve greater independence and grow in his physical strength.

He's been joining us to play adaptive sports, and rode our handcycle for the first time at our Adaptive Sports Festival in Pasadena.

The experience was eye-opening for William - igniting a passion for cycling and expanding his own world cruising the trails. Unfortunately, William's family hasn't been able to afford one of these specialized bikes for his own daily use. So we stepped up to help!

Triumph gave William a handcycle that he can use to take his aspirations even further.

William said he will cherish it and ride everyday, helping him build strength, have fun, and make friends. His parents believe this handcycle will be a pivotal tool aiding his journey to discovery and self confidence.

Keep up that momentum, William!

"The momentum we’ve built serving the paralysis community doesn’t stop. It can’t. It pushes us to achieve new things each and every day, and motivate others to embark on their own journey of recovery and restoration."
