We believe this is a measured response to the global health crisis, we are very sorry to everyone.<\/p>\n

TRIUMPH FOUNDATION INVITES THE COMMUNITY TO <\/strong>PUSH THE LIMITS OF THEIR ABILITY <\/strong>AT THE 9th ANNUAL WHEELCHAIR SPORTS FESTIVAL<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The two-day, all-inclusive sporting event brings the community together with fifteen recreational activities that are open to the public with free participation on April 25 & 26.<\/p>\n

SANTA CLARITA, CA\u2014 Triumph Foundation<\/a>, a nonprofit organization working to improve the lives of people living with disabilities, hosts the 9th Annual Wheelchair Sports Festiva<\/strong>l featuring fifteen adaptive recreational sporting activities that are open to the general public with free participation on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2020<\/strong> at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Activities include: wheelchair hockey, basketball, quad rugby (a.k.a. murderball), racquetball, baseball, hand cycling, tennis, SCUBA, track & field, wheelchair skating (WCMX), dance, yoga, art workshop, self-defense, and a wheelchair obstacle course. Additionally, a Resource Fair featuring informational booths and exhibitors will be open throughout the festival.<\/p>\n

Triumph Foundation hosts the annual event to introduce people with disabilities and their families to adaptive recreational activities.\u00a0 The Wheelchair Sports Festival also provides learning opportunities to the general public, showcasing people living with physical impairment in a way that members of the community do not often see.\u00a0 The Festival brings everyone together of all abilities\u2014able body and disabled alike\u2014to take part in a weekend of all-inclusive fun and games.<\/p>\n

As the Los Angeles Paralympic Sport Club, Triumph Foundation hopes this event will be a \"Gateway to Gold\" for participants, where they learn about a sport, excel, and one day represent the U.S. Olympic Team, and reach the podium.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is Triumph\u2019s major event of the year giving people with disabilities a chance to push the limits of their ability, play games with friends and family on a level playing ground, and enhances their quality of life through the benefit of exercise, sports and fitness,\u201d said Triumph Foundation Founder Andrew Skinner who suffered a spinal cord injury in November 2004 in a snowboarding accident and founded the organization in 2008.\u00a0 \u201cPeople travel from all over California to attend this event and we are excited with the anticipation of over 1,000 people to participate this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

WHAT:<\/strong> The 9th Annual Wheelchair Sports Festival, a two-day free sporting event open to the public that features fifteen adaptive recreational activities, including wheelchair hockey, basketball, rugby (a.k.a. murderball), racquetball, baseball, hand cycling, SCUBA, tennis, track & field, wheelchair skating (WCMX), and a wheelchair obstacle course. Triumph Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help children, adults, and Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury or disorders (SCI) to triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day.<\/p>\n

Triumph Foundation\u2019s services include providing Care Baskets to people who are newly paralyzed that are filled with resources and educational materials; giving grants to support people with inadequate health insurance or financial hardship to obtain necessary equipment, supplies, and services; assisting with home modifications for wheelchair accessibility; re-purposing durable medical goods; leading more than a dozen support groups; and holding adaptive recreational events to support athletes with disabilities. Outreach and peer support is provided throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2008, the organization has touched the lives of over 8,000 individuals with disabilities, provided $1 million in assistance to people with inadequate medical insurance and financial hardship, hosts more than twenty adaptive recreation events annually, delivered over 2,000 Care Baskets to people that suffered paralyzing injuries, and regularly visits dozens of hospitals and rehabilitation centers throughout Southern California.
