In 2023, approximately 250 to 300 people living in Southern California will become paralyzed due to an catastrophic injury. That\u2019s 6 people per week! These people \u2013 our friends, relatives, parents, sons and daughters \u2013 will embark on a life-long journey with paralysis that they never would have imagined. So how does Triumph provide these \u201crelationships and resources?\u201d It\u2019s through our incredible team of Triumph Ambassadors that we\u2019re able to deliver vital resources and crucial peer mentorship to every one of the newly-injured people we serve.<\/p>\n

These women and men have all \u201cbeen there, done that.\u201d Their real-life experience with paralysis uniquely equips them to listen and understand the fears and tears of a newly-injured patient. Only they can know what lies ahead and offer guidance for the way forward.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

PAYING IT FORWARD IN 2023\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\"\"One of our newest Ambassadors is Kyle McKittrick. Kyle was injured in a motorcycle accident in Santa Barbara in 2018. The information he received from Doctors was rapid fire and confusing. He didn\u2019t know what to expect when he was finally sent home and it scared him to death.<\/p>\n

But when he met our Ambassadors and started to attend events and support groups, he began to see the power in community and having a peer mentor \u2013 somebody who has experienced great trauma and the loss of movement. With Triumph Foundation\u2019s help, he could finally see a path forward.<\/p>\n

In 2022, we gave Kyle a conversion van to help him get around without relying on his parents. We trained him as an Ambassador, and now he is using the van to get to and from the hospitals and rehabs where he visits people recently diagnosed with paralysis. By helping others push through the pain and fear, Kyle has been given a new purpose and motivation to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Our 2023 Goals are simple. Our Ambassadors have set a goal to visit EVERY newly-injured person in Southern California.<\/p>\n

Not only that, we\u2019re determined to offer\u00a0more support groups, grants, durable medical equipment, and adaptive recreation events than ever before!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
