Join us at our Adapted Horse & Carriage Driving Clinic in Moorpark, CA.
World Champion Para-Equestrian driver Diane Kastama will be giving us a demonstration of the sport. She will be bringing out a specialized carriage made for wheelchair users to transfer in. Her and fellow clinicians will teach us about the sport of driving, rein handling, how to stop and steer a horse, and then we will get the chance to drive the horse & chariot.
The event is FREE but only 10 people can participate.
Format of clinic:
--Demontration of carriage driving by Diane Kastama.
--Introduction to carriage driving will include rein handling (how to stop and steer a horse).
--Get the chance to drive a horse, pony, or miniature horse. Transfering from chair to seat that raises automaticallyParticipants must have the ability to transfer out of their wheelchair (some assistance will be provided) and have arm function. Lessons will be adapted to the skill level of each driver.
Carriage driving is a great equalizing sport. Come see and feel the freedom of being behind the lines in a carriage.

--Hardy Zantke, ADS & USEF "R" Combined Driving Judge, FEI Combined Driving Judge and Para-Equestrian Judge.Competed in pairs and 4-in -hands; served as Chef d' Equipe for many USA teams competing abroad.
--Jody Cutler, ADS "R" in Pleasure Driving and Dressage, ADS "S" in Combined Driving, USEF "r" in Pleasure Driving
