Everywhere we look there are incredible comebacks in the making. When we met Octavio, we knew there was nothing that could keep his spirit down. So if all he needs is the right equipment to thrive, we couldn't wait to provide.

"I can't wait to have fun with this wheelchair"

Octavio is one of those kids who gives you energy just being in the same room. Ready with a smile and quick with a joke, this 13-year-old loves to have fun.

Back in May of 2021, Octavio took an unfortunate fall from a bounce house at a family party. The fall resulted in an incomplete spinal cord injury to his T9 vertebrae. After surgery and months of physical therapy at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, we're celebrating that he has regained strength in his legs and is now walking short distances with a walker. But he still needed a wheelchair.

The standard wheelchair provided through insurance is big and bulky, ill-fitted to Octavio's body and needs. He calls it a "grandma chair" -  the exact opposite of fun in his opinion. All of his energy and momentum is hampered by a poorly fitting piece of equipment. "With the old wheelchair he needed lots of help," said Octavio's Mom.

So to help him make his BIG comeback and rejoin the fun, Triumph provided Octavio with a wheelchair that matches his size and active personality!

Next up in Octavio's comeback is continued therapy for strength to walk again. And he's super excited to play rugby at the Adaptive Sports Festival!

Now that's one activity we know he's got the energy for.

Coaches and instructors will be on hand to help you learn the games.
