Summer Events Calendar 2019

We are entering an awesome summer season and there's lots of fun activities for you to get out to play.

Triumph Handcycling Clinics

All summer we'll be holding our monthly handcycling clinics.

Starting on June 23rd we'll be at Castaic Lake for our ValleyGo! Handcycling & Kayaking event.

Then in July and August we'll take the show on the road holding cycling clinics at a different city near you!

We'll bring out all our bikes and equipment, set up a base camp, and let everyone ride for FREE.

Family and friends are welcome too!

Open Play Muderball

All summer, Triumph is holding open-play rugby with the Northridge Knights.

We have lots of extra sport wheelchairs for you to use to play this high impact, full contact sport.

No experience necessary. If you have ever been interested in trying this game, this is your opportunity!

SoCal WCMX Showdown

Join SoCal WCMX at the Showdown - North American Championships skating competition on June 8-9th.

Watch guys drop into the BIGGEST bowls and compete amongst the best WCMX & Adaptive Skaters.

Located at at Jack Bulik Skatepark 106581 Filbert St Fontana CA 92335, this event is FREE for spectators, and looking for more to enter the contest.

Saturday is open skate day, Sunday is the competition.

Triumph will have a booth so you'll have a homebase to kick it.

Dine Out to Benefit Triumph Foundation

Join us at Dog Haus in Claremont on Friday, June 28th from 11am to 10pm.

A percentage of your order will be donated to Triumph and continue to support our mission to help children, adults, and Veterans with spinal cord injury/disorder triumph over their disability.

Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures

Casa Colina has exciting events throughout the year! Here are a few highlights of activities coming up:

Tuesday, June 18
Deep Sea Fishing - Spend the day deep sea fishing off of Dana Point.

Saturday, June 22
Adaptive SCUBA Clinic - Casa Colina is teaming up with DiveHeart to teach SCUBA in an indoor heated pool.

Thursday, June 27
Kayaking - Experience the joy of kayaking at Los Alamitos Bay.

Angel City Games

Angel City is holding its annual multi-sport track & field competition on June 20th - 23rd at UCLA.

Participants can compete at Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Javelin, Discus, ShotPut, and wheelchair basketball. Plus there will be a vendor village.

Open for novices and competitive athletes.

Life Rolls On

LRO is holding their signature They Will Surf Again (TWSA) events on August 24th at Huntington Beach; and September 22nd at La Jolla Shores.

Their adaptive surf clinics helps disabled people ride waves.

Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp

Cottage Rehab's Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp is July 15th - 19th in Santa Barbara.

The FREE camp is for youth between the ages of 6 to 19 years old who can use a wheelchair to participate in sports.

Activities at the camp range from beginner to advanced, including rugby, basketball, tennis, hand cycling, volleyball, swimming, kayaking, SCUBA diving, tennis, climbing wall, roller sled hockey, ropes course, decathlon, lacrosse and more. Watch video

Walking Trout Camping Trip

Walking Trout Foundation takes a group of campers with disabilities on a three-night FREE camping trip to Mammoth Mountain every summer.

You don't need any outdoors experience, and the only piece of gear you will need to bring is a sleeping bag.

They will be providing food, fishing poles, tents, cots, and plenty of lame jokes.

Space is limited to only 14 campers, and it's first come, first-served.

Land Meets Sea Sports Camp

Casa Colina hosts their annual Land Meets Sea Sports Camp is August 13th - 15th in Long Beach, CA. This three-day event will feature water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, hand cycling, wheelchair sports and much more. Triumph will be helping run their rugby, hockey, and land based sports.

Rebuilding Lives: An Evening of Celebration & Triumphs

On Wednesday, August 14th California Rehabilitation Institute is hosting an evening of celebration & inspirational triumphs with all proceeds benefiting Triumph Foundation.

Enjoy Appetizers, Dancing and Inspirational Stories. Black & White attire encouraged.

Rollettes Dance Experience

The Rollettes Dance Experience takes place August 15th - 18th in Los Angeles and encompasses the team’s mission to create a community that redefines what it means to be strong, female, and resilient.

You’re able be a part of that movement, creating lasting friendships, and learning more about yourself in the process.

USARC

In July and August, United States Adaptive Recreation Center in Big Bear Lake hosts adaptive water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, sailing and fishing programs.

Summer sessions are either single day or overnight at accessible campgrounds.

Adaptive Surfing Competition

Adaptive surfing history will be made again at the 3rd Annual US Open Adaptive Surfing Championships on September 26-29, 2019 in Oceanside, CA

Hosted by Stoke for Life Foundation, this event is now three days of elite world class adaptive surfing.

With the best of the best in the world of adaptive surfing slated to show up for another piece of the prize money this event is primed to show competitive adaptive surfing at its best.

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra

DSES summer programs at Mammoth Mountain and the surrounding areas offers a wealth of recreational activities. Programs include kayaking, rock climbing, camping, hiking, cycling/mountain bike rides, horseback riding and some enjoyable outdoor adventure learning activities. All summer activities are scheduled individually and are specific to personal interests and capabilities.

San Diego has many wonderful events and activities to take part in for people with disabilities. Here are some highlights:

Camp At The Bay
Monday-Friday, July 8 - 12, 2019.

Experience jet skiing, water skiing, tubing, sailing, kayaking, and more

Kid Zone Summer Adventure Camp
Monday-Friday, July 22 - 26, 2019.
Campers ages 6 to 12, with any disabilities
Visits fun spots around San Diego
Costs include t-shirt, daily field trips, admission, and transportation

Camp Wet and Wild
Monday-Friday, August 5 - 19, 2019.
Campers ages 10-adult, with any disabilities
Enjoy kayaking, surfing, games, crafts, and special visitors
Camp meets at S. Mission Beach, N. Jetty Rd.

Junior Adaptive Sports Camp

San Diego's Junior Adaptive Sports Camp is July 22nd - 27th featuring 15 different sports and unlimited fun!

At the camp, athletes learn the fundamentals of sports such as wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, archery, swimming, hand cycling, water tubing, water skiing, wheelchair soccer, rugby and much more. Athletes at camp are grouped by age and ability, and work with volunteers and sports counselors who share a passion for adaptive sports.

RAMP Handcycling

Recreation Access Motivating People (RAMP) Handcycling conducts FREE hand cycling clinics in the Huntington Beach on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am - 1pm. They have a variety of handcycles and adaptive cycles for you to use. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome to join.

Wheelchair Dancing

Wheelchair Dancers Organization offers free dance classes. They welcome new dancers! Classes are located at the War Memorial Building 3325 Zoo Dr., San Diego, CA. Standing dance partners are needed. Contact Beverly for info or CLICK HERE.

Infinite Flow holds Wheelchair Dance Classes in Los Angeles. Open to All Abilities - wheelers & walkers. Pay what you can donation classes. If you are interested, email to RSVP or CLICK HERE.

PossAbilities

Developed by the Loma Linda University, PossAbilities is a FREE community outreach program that offers service programs and activities for people with disabilities.

Monthly handcycling & bike rides, wheelchair sports and activities available.

Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP)

Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) is a non-profit organization working to improve the health, independence and social integration of people with physical disabilities through sports, fitness and recreation programs. BORP in Berkeley offers a number of competitive sports programs, as well as outdoor adventures, family outings and integrated cycling.

Every week there are opportunities to play wheelchair sports. Here are some highlights:

Rugby

Northridge Knights team practices on Sunday from 11am-3pm at Lake View Terrace Gym located at 11075 Foothill Blvd. Lake View Terrace, CA 91321. For more info email us.

Sharp Quad Rugby practices every Sunday in Oceanside, CA. To learn more call the Recreation Therapy Department at (858) 939-3048.

High Fives' Storm Quad Rugby practices in Bay Area and Reno, NV. To learn more contact Debra.

Wheelchair Basketball

UCLA Adapted Recreation holds an open wheelchair basketball clinic every Tuesday. For more info click here.

Wheelchair Tennis

Biola University in La Mirada hosts open play Wheelchair Tennis practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 - 9pm. For more info contact Dee Henry

Northridge Knights plays tennis on Saturdays at Balboa Park. For more info contact Triumph Foundation.

Long Beach Wounded Warrior Tennis clinics hosted at the VA Long Beach Healthcare Center in Long Beach. For clinic dates contact Steve.

Life Series Groups

Every week Triumph leads support groups, get-togethers, mixers, and outings for wheelchair users that meet all around Southern California. We call them Life Series Groups.

Each group is different and has its own personality. In addition to providing group support, many of them also do fun activities like go-kart racing, bowling, billiards, watch movies, eat at restaurants, feature live music, and have guest speakers and conversation topics.

Superheros Triumph 5K

On Saturday, September 21st we are holding our Superheroes Triumph! run, walk, & roll 5k in Van Nuys, CA!

No matter what your ability is, you are a hero to us! Our 5K will "pack a punch" in fun and ease with a fast, gentle rolling course.

100% of the proceeds benefit Triumph Foundation!

Casino Night Fundraiser

Triumph's Let'em Roll Fundraiser is on Saturday July 13, 2019 at the Universal Hilton in Universal City. The event will feature Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament, Craps, Blackjack, and Roulette. PLUS prime rib dinner, music and a silent auction.

We bring the entire community together for a night of fun and celebration of life.

This is our main source of funds to support our programs.
