Fall Adaptive Recreation Events

Andrew Skinner November 13, 2017 News, Noteworthy, SCI

Sports can often inspire us, bring out emotions and let us believe in the impossible. Take a look at a couple annual Events that were held this Fall, they both provide adaptive and all-inclusive sports and recreation programs to individuals with disabilities in Southern California.

Rancho Los Amigos Spinal Injury Games

The annual Rancho Los Amigos Spinal Injury Games are designed for the wheelchair sports enthusiast; whether it's your first time or you're an expert. Each year their Spinal Injury Games provide an excellent opportunity for participants to experience a variety of wheelchair sports. We were at the event with our resource booth, introducing the Triumph Foundation to many newly injured and those who may not have heard of our outreach mission. We also assisted in hosting the rugby portion of the games, and introducing the fun competitive sport to everyone!

DisAbility Sports Festival

The 11th annual DisAbility Sports Festival was recently held at California State University, San Bernardino.. This event featured over 20 adapted sports including basketball, archery, kayaking, tennis, golf, soccer, resource fair, and more. We hosted their quad rugby clinic inside the main gymnasium. Dennis Powell, who pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1983-87, opened the Sports Festival.

We hope to see you out at the next local Adaptive Recreation event!
