Desert Ability Center – Coachella Valley, CA
September 13, 2021 News, Noteworthy, SCITake a look at this great article in The Desert Sun featuring Judy A. May's organization, Desert Ability Center (DAC).
In 2010, Judy A. May launched adaptive sports programs in the Coachella Valley. More than a decade later, her organization, Desert Ability Center (DAC) provides programming for individuals with physical disabilities.
"The opportunity to participate and grow through adaptive sports can change an individual’s outlook on life."
"One participant, Paul, an amputee veteran, joined the organization one year at a local bike ride. He had never been on an adaptive cycle before, but DAC got him on an adaptive trike and got him moving. Today, Paul is a competitive cyclist."

"Another important aspect of the organization’s work is that the athletes in the organization’s programs educate the community about the capabilities of people living with a disability. May believes this reduces the stigma disabled individuals face and opens the door for more opportunities where they are included."
