SAVE THE DATE: Triumph's 7th Annual Wheelchair Sports Festival is April 28th & 29th. This is our biggest event of the year featuring wheelchair hockey, basketball, quad rugby, racquetball, baseball, handcycling, SCUBA diving, and WCMX. Register to participate.
Handcycling Clinics
Come out and join us for the first handcycle clinic of the year on Friday, February 2nd from 11am - 3pm at Balboa Sports Complex located at 5831 Balboa Blvd, Encino, CA 91316.
We have partnered with Cal State Northridge (CSUN) to form the ValleyGo! program to enhance our handcycling clinics.
Clinics will be February 2nd, March 2nd, April 6th, and May 11th.
Our focus is to get Veterans out to ride. Whether you have a "disability" or not, if you served in the U.S. military we invite you to join us!
We will have our "stable" of handcycles for everyone to try. Bring your friends and family for a fun day of kranking. This is a beginner to intermediate level ride so don't be shy. Just look for the big, blue Triumph Foundation canopy and a load of cool bikes!

Festival of Human Abilities
Come out to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach to celebrate the creative spirit of people with disabilities. The Festival of Human Abilities celebrates the art and creativity of people with disabilities. It will feature wheelchair art, dance, live music, signing choirs, interactive workshops, and other creative performances by people who have disabilities.
FREE for people with disabilities but you must register.

Wheelin’ in the Park with Triumph Foundation

Cal-Rehab Institute Finding Hope Lecture
Cal Rehab is launching its Lecture Series "Finding Hope," about scientific breakthroughs in multiple areas of medicine. It will feature an exciting and informative discussion of innovative methods and research for Spinal Cord Injury rehabilitation.
Join us for our first presentation by CEO of Aivita Biomedical, Hans S. Keirstead, Ph.D to discuss stem cells, facts, fiction, and future.

Carriage Driving Clinic
Join Triumph in March (dates to determined) at our Adapted Carriage Driving Clinic in Moorepark, CA. This clinic is presented by the USDFD - United States Driving for Disabled.
World Champion Para-Equestrian driver Diane Kastama will be bringing out a specialized carriage made for a wheelchair user to transfer in. Her and fellow clinicians will teach us about the sport of driving, rein handling, how to stop and steer a horse, and then we'll get a chance to drive the horse & carriage. Watch the video
WCMX 2018 World Championship
April 6th - 7th
WCMX World Championship 2018 will be on April 6th & 7th right here in Southern California at Fontana Skatepark located at 16581 Filbert St. Fontana, CA 92335.
This two-day event features WCMX Competitors from around the world competing for cash, prizes, and the WCMX World Championship 2018 Title.
VA Adapted Sports Expo
The Long Beach VA with the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) are holding its Adapted Sports Expo in the parking lot of the hospital. Come play wheelchair sports, check out the resource fair, and more. Triumph is working to help them put it all together.
Victory for Victims 10K & 5K

April 21st
Dignity Health Northridge Hospital Medical Center is having their 16th Annual Victory for Victims 10K, 5K, Kids Fun Run, Dog Walk at Lake Balboa at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA.
Triumph will have a booth at their expo and be participating.
This event is benefiting the Center for Assault Treatment Services.
Wheelchair Sports Festival
Mark your calendars: Triumph's 7th Annual Wheelchair Sports Festival will be on April 28th & 29th at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Gymnasium. This is our biggest event of the year featuring wheelchair hockey, basketball, quad rugby, racquetball, baseball, handcycling, SCUBA diving, and WCMX.
This event is ALL INCLUSIVE, open to everybody of ALL ABILITIES TO PLAY!! We will have many extra sport wheelchairs for people to use, and coaching to teach you how to play.

Sailing - Join Casa Colina and the U.S. Sailing Center for a hands-on sailing experience! Learn the basics of sailing in Los Alamitos Bay, the Long Beach Harbor and other locations. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Snow Skiing - Ski and snowboard instruction will be provided by the United States Adaptive Recreation Center. Stand-up and sit-down skiing and snowboarding are available depending on personal skill level.

Wheelchair Sports Practices
Every week there are opportunities to play wheelchair sports. Here are some highlights:
Northridge Knights teams practice wheelchair sports every week at Lake View Terrace Gym located at 11075 Foothill Blvd. Lake View Terrace, CA 91321
- Wheelchair Basketball practice is on Thursday from 6pm-9pm.
- Quad Rugby practice is on Sunday from 11am-3pm.
- Wheelchair Tennis practice is on Saturday at Balboa Park.
Triumph Handcycling Clinic every month. We have around 10 bikes set up with a variety of adaptations for different rider capabilities that we bring out for people to use.
UCLA Adapted Recreation holds an open wheelchair basketball clinic every Tuesday night. For more info CLICK HERE
HotWheelz Basketball Team practices Tuesday & Sunday at 2:30pm at Lake Terrace Gymnasium in Los Angeles. Contact Alex

PossAbilities
Developed by the Loma Linda University, PossAbilities is a FREE community outreach. It's goal is to offer disabled individuals a sense of community and a social network
April 29th
Triathlon - the 16th Annual PossAbilities Triathlon will be held at the Loma Linda University Drayson Center located at 25040 Stewart Street, Loma Linda, CA 92354. The event is composed of three different segments, the 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk/roll course, the 11 mile bike course, and finally the 150 yard swim course. Wheelchair Dancing
Wheelchair Dancers Organization offers free adaptive dance classes in San Diego, CA. They always welcome new dancers! For info visit WheelchairDancers.org for a complete list of classes.
Infinite Flow holds monthly wheelchair dance classes on the 1st Saturday of the month from 5pm to 8pm. Open to All Abilities - wheelers & walkers. If you are interested in participating, visit www.InfiniteFlowDance.org
US Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC)
Now through March in Big Bear, USARC redefines physical and cognitive limitations through skiing and snowboarding. Using the best adaptive equipment and teaching techniques available, with private one-on-one instruction, they maximize each participants' potential for success. Mono-skis, bi-skis and outriggers allow beginners to quickly feel the freedom of gliding down the mountain.

Wives & Girlfriends Retreat
Triumph Foundation's Wives & Girlfriends of Men with SCI is planning a women's retreat in June. Spinal Cord Injury does not only affect the person who is injured, it also affects families and loved ones.
