THE URGENT NEED IN 2025: SERVING THE NEWLY-PARALYZED

As we move into 2025, an overwhelming crisis is taking shape. In the coming year, Triumph will meet over 300 people in our community who will face paralysis—roughly six people every week!  They will suddenly find themselves grappling with profound physical, emotional, and financial obstacles.

If you’ve personally witnessed the impact of paralysis or been alongside someone on this journey, you understand the urgency of this moment. Without immediate support, many will face isolation, despair, and seemingly insurmountable barriers.

This is why we’re asking you, our faithful supporter, to extend your passionate and generous hand once again. We can’t let these newly-injured individuals be left behind. They need our Triumph Family to educate, support, and empower them to give them the momentum to “keep moving forward.”

TURNING TRAGEDY INTO TRIUMPH

At the heart of our mission are Triumph Ambassadors— mentors who’ve personally experienced the challenges of paralysis and are uniquely equipped to meet and guide others.

Lakan is a shining example of the impact being made. Our Ambassadors met him in the hospital after he sustained a C5 spinal cord injury from a surfing accident. He faced unimaginable heartbreak, inadequate health insurance, and severe financial struggles—all while trying to care for his family.

Upon discharge from the hospital, Lakan was not given proper equipment for his home to use the bathroom. With your support Triumph awarded him a grant for a new tilt commode and shower chair, that’s essential for his dignity & independence, and to improve his quality of life. He is navigating life and making tremendous progress in his recovery.

Most importantly, he stayed involved with Triumph, discovering a place where he felt a genuine sense of belonging and support—and is now helping others cope and adjust to life with SCI.

Your generous gifts have been instrumental in the journeys of hundreds of people like Lakan, enabling them to embrace life fully and even extend support to others in need.

THIS IS YOUR CALL TO ACTION - LET’S MAKE 2025 A YEAR OF HOPE

As we enter 2025, our Ambassadors have set ambitious goals—to visit EVERY newly-paralyzed person in Southern California and expand our support groups, grants, durable medical equipment, and adaptive recreation events. We cannot achieve this without your help. Your year-end gift of $100 or more empowers our trained Ambassadors, the true heroes of our foundation, to guide individuals in finding the strength to keep moving forward.

TIMING IS CRITICAL: MAKE YOUR IMPACT BEFORE DECEMBER 31

Timing is everything. By making your gift before December 31, you’ll help us end 2024 strong and move into 2025 with the resources needed to support every newly-injured individual who turns to us for help.

On behalf of the entire Triumph Family, thank you for your generosity, compassion, and commitment to creating a future where no one faces paralysis alone. May your holidays be full of love, joy, and connection. Here’s to making 2025 a year of hope, resilience, and triumph.

TRIUMPH IMPACT STORY:

Life can change in an instant, and no one knows this better than Taylor. Her world was turned upside down suddenly when a thoracic aortic aneurysm caused a spinal cord stroke, leaving her a paraplegic. She now faces challenges that most could never imagine.

With only a short time in the hospital, and with no immediate family to lean on for financial, physical, or emotional support, Taylor was lost—until she found Triumph.

She received a Triumph Care Pack full of answers to her questions, and started attending our support groups, where she finds hope and encouragement, and motivation to move forward in her outpatient therapy to rebuild strength.

Independence is Taylor’s ultimate goal, and for someone who was once self-sufficient, relying on others was one of her hardest adjustments. Taylor was ready to take the next step toward freedom—driving!

She applied for Triumph’s Keep Moving Forward Grant and was awarded hand controls to drive, enabling her to start working again and reclaim her independence. Because of your generosity, she now also has the ability to do the things she loves, like exploring the outdoors and playing adaptive sports.

Your support has empowered Taylor to overcome challenges and reclaim life. The journey continues—with hope, resilience, and gratitude leading the way.
