How we motivate hope – Triumph Grant Report
October 16, 2023 News, Noteworthy, SCI, Triumph Outreach Update

"I can't adequately express my thanks for this support. You folks are AWESOME!"
- Kylie, Triumph Grant Recipient
I know it's not even Halloween yet, but all this pumpkin spice in the air has us already thinking of Thanksgiving. I am so thankful to everyone who gives to Triumph Foundation. Because of you, we're able to help people with the essentials they need to lead independent and inspiring lives.
This year, Triumph has given 28 grants to people who needed your help!
So I wanted to take a little extra time today to showcase four recipients' stories. This newsletter is a little longer than most, so grab a cup of your favorite Fall beverage and dive into these inspiring stories of resilience and transformation.
Maria's Mobile Stair Lift
Maria's life took an unexpected turn when a medication reaction left her unable to walk. She began her arduous journey to recovery at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center. However, upon discharge, the long flight of stairs up to her second-floor studio apartment presented a daunting challenge. Maria's plea for assistance in acquiring a mobile stair lift was answered through Triumph Foundation's Keep Moving Forward grant program. This innovative device has enabled her family to safely and efficiently welcome her home once again.
Roosevelt's Hand Controls
Roosevelt's life was forever changed by a spinal cord injury resulting from a gunshot wound. A sports enthusiast and avid traveler, he needed a solution for transportation. Triumph fulfilled his request for specialized hand controls in his vehicle, granting him the freedom of transportation throughout his community. This grant allows both Roosevelt and his fiancé to drive the vehicle.
Paul's Essentials
Paul faced the challenge of a spinal cord compression injury, impacting his daily life. He applied for the Keep Moving Forward Grant to obtain a commode shower chair, reducing the number of transfers required for essential activities. This grant has empowered Paul to regain independence in everyday tasks that we often take for granted.
Kylie's Custom Wheelchair
Kylie never imagined that a playful somersault would result in a paralyzing spinal cord injury. Her wheelchair then became a vital extension of her own body. After 3 years, the wheelchair she received was falling apart and was no longer fit for her needs. Triumph supported her purchase of a lighter, better-fitting chair. This significant change has granted Kylie newfound independence and mobility, enhancing every aspect of her life.
Each one of these stories displays how a Triumph Foundation grant brings hope, mobility, and independence to individuals facing life-altering challenges. Your generous donations make these triumphs possible, and we are truly humbled and grateful for your enduring support.
If you'd like to make a difference in someone's life today, consider donating to Triumph Foundation or sharing our mission with your friends and family. Together, we'll continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to Triumph Foundation or request a grant application.
P.S. I am so grateful to everyone who reached out to me to offer prayers and comfort blessings for me, my Mom, and my family as we face a new life without my Dad. Your love is a blessing to me and we can't thank you enough for grieving with us. I'll share more at another time, but I just wanted to let you know we love you too.

"The momentum we’ve built serving the paralysis community doesn’t stop. It can’t. It pushes us to achieve new things each and every day, and motivate others to embark on their own journey of recovery and restoration."
