A Life-Changing Fall, A New Path Forward

In January 2023, Max was injured in a snowboarding accident after overshooting a large jump, resulting in a complete T12 spinal cord injury. Emergency surgery and an intensive rehab program at Craig Hospital in Colorado marked the beginning of his new journey toward independence.

Since then, Max has committed himself to physical therapy and recreational activities like kayaking. With incredible determination, he’s progressed from total paralysis to walking with leg braces and a walker. His weekly training sessions with his quadriplegic neighbor at his home gym are a testament to the power of peer support and perseverance.

While neuropathy continues to affect his daily functioning, Max has partially returned to work as an architect. With his lease ending, he moved in with his girlfriend—but their home required modifications, including a stair lift and ramp.

Thanks to Triumph Foundation supporters, Max received a grant to help make these accessibility upgrades possible. Because of this support, Max can continue building a life of purpose and progress—both at home and in his career.
