Meet Malcom: Inspiring Through Action

Andrew Skinner March 24, 2025 News, Noteworthy, SCI

Malcolm was born with Spina Bifida but never let it hold him back from a life filled with achievement and inspiration. Transitioning from a special education classroom to thriving alongside able-bodied peers, Malcolmโ€™s determination, combined with his parents' unwavering support, shaped a childhood rich in friendships and opportunities.

A Passion for Adaptive Athletics

A turning point came when Malcolm discovered adaptive athletics, sparking his passion for wheelchair basketball. His dedication to the sport led to both academic and athletic success. He graduated from the University of Texas Arlington while competing at an elite level. His basketball talents even took him overseas, where he played in Franceโ€™s top wheelchair basketball division for three years. Today, Malcolm continues to excel, competing at the highest level with the Rancho Halos in Division 1 basketball, and as a proud member of the Los Angeles Rams wheelchair football team.

Triumph's Support and New Wheels

Thanks to Triumphโ€™s Keep Moving Forward Grant, Malcolm received new wheels, which have been a game-changer. The new equipment has significantly improved his on-court performance and boosted his confidence. Malcolm is eager to continue his journey as both a coach with Triumphโ€™s basketball games and an athlete, inspiring others through his dedication and passion for the game.
