“We're passionate about providing the relationships and resources that encourage people to keep moving forward.”

Do you know how much you mean to people who experienced a spinal cord injury in 2022? It’s no exaggeration to say that your generosity toward the people we serve has made a radically life-changing difference for them and their families.

Because of generous supporters like you, we were able to offer help and hope to children, adults and veterans at the moment of their greatest despair, right when they needed it most. You gave them the resources and hope they needed to fight through the pain, overcome their physical obstacles, equip themselves for the journey ahead, and keep moving forward! But that’s not where it ends.

Keep reading to learn how your donations of $25 or more are giving people living with paralysis the opportunity to pay it forward – to help others triumph over their disabilities in 2023 and beyond.

NEWLY-PARALYZED PEOPLE NEED YOU

But before I tell you how our newest Ambassadors are turning their personal tragedies into triumph for others, I need to make you aware of a significant and urgent need.

In 2023, approximately 250 to 300 people living in Southern California will become paralyzed due to an catastrophic injury. That’s 6 people per week! These people – our friends, relatives, parents, sons and daughters – will embark on a life-long journey with paralysis that they never would have imagined. And they need YOUR help.

If you're one of our many supporters and friends who has faced a similar situation, personally or with a family member or friend, you know what this is like. You've been there. You understand the helplessness of not knowing who to turn to for help.

This is why we count on your passionate and generous support for our work providing relationships and resources that help and encourage newly-injured people to “keep moving forward.”

NEW AMBASSADORS TRIUMPH IN 2022

So how does Triumph provide these “relationships and resources?” It’s through our incredible team of Triumph Ambassadors that we’re able to deliver vital resources and crucial peer mentorship to every one of the newly-injured people we serve.

These women and men have all “been there, done that.” Their real-life experience with paralysis uniquely equips them to listen and understand the fears and tears of a newly-injured patient. Only they can know what lies ahead and offer guidance for the way forward.

PAYING IT FORWARD IN 2023

One of our newest Ambassadors is Kyle McKittrick. Kyle was injured in a motorcycle accident in Santa Barbara in 2018. The information he received from Doctors was rapid fire and confusing. He didn’t know what to expect when he was finally sent home and it scared him to death.

But when he met our Ambassadors and started to attend events and support groups, he began to see the power in community and having a peer mentor – somebody who has experienced great trauma and the loss of movement. With Triumph Foundation’s help, he could finally see a path forward.

In 2022, we gave Kyle a conversion van to help him get around without relying on his parents. We trained him as an Ambassador, and now he is using the van to get to and from the hospitals and rehabs where he visits people recently diagnosed with paralysis. By helping others push through the pain and fear, Kyle has been given a new purpose and motivation to keep moving forward.

2023 Goals

Our 2023 Goals are simple. Our Ambassadors have set a goal to visit EVERY newly-injured person in Southern California.

Not only that, we’re determined to offer more support groups, grants, durable medical equipment, and adaptive recreation events than ever before!

The truth is, we need your help. Our life-changing programs are funded by your donations. When you make a year-end gift of $100 or more to Triumph, you empower our trained Ambassadors, the true heroes of our foundation, to help people find the strength to keep moving forward.

Will you give a significant one-time gift before December 31 to help us end 2022 strong?

From the entire Triumph Family, may this holiday season be a beautiful time of love and connection with your own family and friends.

Happy New Year!

P.S. Please postmark your tax-deductible gift by December 31, 2022.  Your generous gift toward our vital programs will pave the way for Triumph Foundation’s ongoing growth and impact!
