Remembering Kyle McKittrick
December 17, 2025 NewsIt is with a broken heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of Kyle McKittrick, our Triumph Family member and Ambassador.
Kyle was hospitalized last week after experiencing severe symptoms of autonomic dysreflexia. Despite tireless advocacy by his partner Emily, and his family, for extensive testing by his medical team - the exact cause was unclear. And after multiple days of worsening AD symptoms and extreme blood pressure spikes - reaching over 200 systolic - Kyle suffered a brain hemorrhage. He became completely unresponsive, intubated, and was placed on life support.
On Sunday night, December 14th, surrounded by love and guided by what they know Kyle would want, his family made the unimaginably difficult decision to remove life support. Kyle passed away peacefully.
Please keep Kyle's family, Emily, and all who loved him in your prayers during this incredibly painful time. They wanted our community to share in honoring his life, and be informed.
Kyle's passing is a heartbreaking reminder that the dangers of secondary health complications for people living with spinal cord injury - such as autonomic dysreflexia - are very real. This significant and devastating loss to the SCl community, reminds us of the importance of having dedicated healthcare specialists who are attuned to the unique needs and circumstances of spinal cord injuries. We must be aware and relentless advocates for ourselves, for one another, and for our community.
He will be remembered for his fun loving spirit; athleticism on the rugby court, cycling, surfing, skiing, and all-forms of recreation; and most importantly, his extraordinary ability to make meaningful connections with people. Kyle never met a stranger - he possessed a rare blend of empathy, warmth, and charm that allowed him to form fast friendships in every space he entered.
Plans will be announced soon to celebrate Kyle's life. His family has already made one thing clear: they want it to reflect the extraordinary man he was - the strength, humor, loyalty, and heart he brought into every space he entered.
Kyle will be missed dearly.

In 2022, Triumph had the honor of gifting Kyle an adapted van—giving him the freedom to drive himself and embark on countless adventures. We invite you to watch this video to learn more about his story, and relive a truly magical moment in his life.
