Pushing Forward with Strength: Ruby’s Story

Every month, Triumph Foundation visits Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Hospital to meet newly injured individuals facing the life-changing reality of spinal cord injury. We provide Care Packs full of resources, encouragement, and connection but more than that, we offer hope.

One of the remarkable people we met on a recent visit was Ruby.

After a devastating car accident, Ruby was left unable to stand, walk, or use her hands. The injuries also caused weakness in her arms and shoulders, making it incredibly difficult to push a standard wheelchair. As her inpatient rehab journey neared its end, Ruby was preparing to go home, but without the right mobility equipment her independence would be severely limited.

That’s when Triumph Family came to the rescue.

Ruby applied to our Wheelchair Loaner Program and received an ultralight wheelchair that empowers her to move through her day with more ease and dignity. It’s a vital piece of equipment that makes it possible for her to access the community, attend therapy appointments, and begin reclaiming the freedom she once feared was lost.

Every chair, every Care Pack, every visit to hospitals like Rancho - it’s all powered by YOU.

Let’s keep moving people like Ruby forward, together.
