The Comeback – Steven’s Story

The comebacks keep on coming!  Throughout 2021, we're sharing the amazing comeback stories that we see every day - and Steven's story is one for the record books.

On November 2, 2020 Steven Reyes was asleep in the passenger seat of his brother's car when they were hit by a drunk driver. He woke up in an MRI to find out he had been in a collision that injured his spinal cord, and nearly took his life.

"I want to give hope to others... You're not in it alone."

Thankfully he transferred to Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare, a premiere rehabilitation hospital located in Southern California, and less than 24 hours from when he arrived, he began the therapy that helped him regain movement in his hands and the ability to walk.

Steven credits his friends at Triumph Foundation for the motivation he needed to comeback and keep moving forward. "Triumph Foundation completely changed my attitude," he said. "They've been so helpful."

Although the road ahead is long, and every injury and circumstance is unique, we hope you are encouraged by the strength and victories of everyone in the Triumph community. We celebrate Steven's extraordinary comeback with his family and Casa Colina's team of doctors and therapists.
