Happy 2024!  As we begin this exciting new year, there are lots of fun community events to look forward to this Winter and Spring!

Below are some amazing opportunities coming up in the first quarter.

Handcycling

January 13th in Valencia

Join us for handcycling at our headquarters.

We will have our "stable" of over 20 hand cranked cycles and adapted bikes for people to try riding.

Bring your own cycle if you have one, and family and friends are welcome to ride along with us.

Snow Skiing

January 25th, February 15th, February 27th

Who wants to go snow skiing with Triumph in Big Bear with United States Adaptive Recreation Center?

Limited to 10 skiers each date.

 

Youth Sitting Volleyball

January 20th, January 27th
February 3rd, February 10th, February 24th

Calling all kids!

Our Play LA partnership with the City of Los Angeles bringing adaptive sports to youth continues!

Sitting volleyball is played from a sitting position on the floor. All kids are welcome to join the fun!

Youth Adaptive Archery

February 10th, February 24th, March 23rd, April 13th

Ready to hit the target?

Play LA and Triumph are hosting adaptive archery clinics for kids!

Join us to learn to shoot a bow and arrow by Gold Medal winning Paralympian Kevin Mather and team USA archery coaches.

Rugby Clincs

Every Sunday in Burbank

Join us to play wheelchair rugby!

Triumph and the Northridge Knights are practicing every Sunday from 9 - 11:30 AM in Burbank. There will be sport wheelchairs and equipment to use, and teammates to teach you how to play.

Come out for some FUN

NatureTrack Foundation

January 14th, February 11th, February 25th, and more!

NatureTrack Foundation will showcase the Freedom Trax at several beaches coming in 2024.

The Freedom Trax can used on a manual wheelchair and quickly transform into a battery-powered all-terrain vehicle that easily traverses beach sand and trails. Nature Track helps wheelchair users or those with a physical disability access and explore beaches and trails.

SoCal Adaptive Sports - USA Boccia

January 19th

Join SoCal Adaptive Sports for their USA Boccia Training and Tournament in Santa Ana.

This exciting event will introduce new players to the game of Boccia.

Boccia is a Paralympic Sport for wheelchair athletes. It's played with with small leather balls. There are two teams competing against each other. At the beginning of each match, one white leather ball (called the "Jack" ball) is thrown into the court of play. Then, the objective is for each team to see who can throw (or roll their ball down a ramp) to get their Boccia balls closer to the white Jack ball. The team with their Boccia balls the closest at the end of the match wins.
 
All ability levels are welcome!

 

Festival of Human Abilities at the Aquarium

January 27th - 28th

Join the Aquarium of the Pacific for its annual Festival of Human Abilities.

This special celebration highlights the creative talents and abilities of people with disabilities.

Experience live performances and demonstrations by disabled dancers, musicians, and artists.

PLUS enjoy the amazing aquarium!

Burbank Adaptive Sports Expo

February 17th 

This new community event is for EVERYONE - adaptive athletes, developmentally-disabled athletes, and able-bodied athletes.

Activities include tennis, beep baseball, power soccer, boccia, fencing, disc golf, blind soccer, swimming, Judo, dance, drum circle, and much more!

Triumph will be hosting wheelchair rugby and basketball.

All equipment needed will be provided.

Don't miss this inaugural event!

Adaptive Shooting

February 18th

Apple Valley Gun Club and Triumph partnered to hold special adaptive shooting clinics for people with disabilities.

Participants will learn about gun safety, self-defense, marksmanship, and the sport of target shooting.

First shooting date is February 18. More dates to be announced throughout the year.

Abilities Expo

March 15th - 17th

Come out to this FREE in-person Abilities Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center to see us and the latest & greatest in adapted products and services.

The show is the go-to source for the community of people with disabilities, their families, and healthcare professionals. Discover ability-enhancing products and services.

Triumph will be at booth #440, come by to say hello!

 

Wheelchair Sports Festival

April 27th - 28th

Join us for Triumph's largest event of the year, our Wheelchair Sports Festival featuring more than a dozen sports and activities.

The event is FREE, all-inclusive, and a whole lot of FUN.

RAMP Handcycling

Recreation Access Motivating People (RAMP) Handcycling conducts FREE hand cycling clinics in the Huntington Beach area on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

They have a variety of handcycles and adaptive cycles for you to use. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome to join.

Wheelchair Tennis

There are opportunities to play Wheelchair Tennis every week!

Clinics, classes, and tournaments are taking place all over SoCal.

Locations include:

  • Pasadena

  • Lakewood
  • Mission Viejo

Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures

Casa Colina's Outdoor Adventures & Wheelchair Sports are hosting AMAZING activities every month.

They empower people with disabilities by creating opportunities through challenging and exciting outdoor activities. Emphasizing ability over disability, the program lets participants experience success both physically and emotionally.

Join Angel City to learn sports and sharpen your skills! They have open play events led by experienced coaches. Everyone is welcome - of all ages and skill levels, beginner to advanced!

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES) is located in Mammoth Lakes and provides coaching and instruction in a variety of adaptive sports to challenge and empower athletes all year long whether gliding down a snow-covered mountainside, cruising on a bicycle, or paddling across a placid lake.

The Unrecables
The Unrecables is the Los Angeles chapter of DSUSA. From December to May, They have monthly weekend ski trips to Mammoth Mountain for our members with disabilities.

The Achievers is the Orange County chapter of Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA-OC). Their goal is to provide a quality safe, and fun experience for children and adults with disabilities through monthly weekend programs held at the Mammoth every season.

SoCal Adaptive Sports host fun recreational activities all year long.

Challenged Sailors San Diego

Challenged Sailors San Diego provides therapeutic and recreational adaptive sailing opportunities for people with disabilities to enhance their dignity, well- being, and independence.

Kelly Brush Foundation Active Project

The Active Project is an online community for people to learn about adaptive sports across the United States, find places to try them, and connect with others so that everyone can enjoy an active life.

Saturday - October 12, 2024

Our Over-the-Line Wheelchair Baseball Tournament at Barry A. Sanders Sports Fiel. Over 36 people with disabilities, including children, adults and Veterans, will participate in this modified baseball game.
