The New Year is here!

2020 has lots of fun activities this Winter & Spring.  It's time to come out and play!

Below is a LONG list of awesome events we hope you'll attend.

Triumph's Wheelchair Sports Festival is April 25th & 26th!

This is our biggest event of the year featuring more than a dozen adaptive sports and activities. You don't want to miss it!

Handcycling Clinic

Join us for our first handcycling clinic on Saturday, February 7th from 10am-2pm at Lake Balboa Park located at 5831 Balboa Blvd. Encino, CA 91316.

We will set up a base camp and have our "stable" of 20 handcycles for you to try riding. Bring your own bike if you have one, and family and friends are welcome to ride along with us.

Festival of Human Abilities

January 25th & 26th

Come out to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach to celebrate the creative spirit of people with disabilities. The Festival of Human Abilities celebrates the art and creativity of people with disabilities. It will feature wheelchair art, dance, live music, signing choirs, adapted SCUBA diving demonstrations, interactive workshops, and other creative performances by people who have disabilities.

ValleyGo! Handcycle, Kayak Clinics

Our ValleyGo! Adapted Sports Program with CSUN is bringing handcycling & kayaking every month at Castaic Lake this Spring and into summer!

We will hold an awesome day of kranking and paddling.

Abilities Expo Los Angeles

February 21st – 23rd

Come out to this FREE event at the Los Angeles Convention Center to see us and the latest & greatest in adapted products and services. The show is the go-to source for the community of people with disabilities, they families, seniors, veterans, and healthcare professionals. Discover ability-enhancing products and services.

Carriage Driving Clinic

March (dates to be determined)

Join Triumph at our Adapted Carriage Driving Clinic in Moorepark, CA. This clinic is presented by the USDFD - United States Driving for Disabled.

World Champion Para-Equestrian driver Diane Kastama will be bringing out a specialized carriage made for a wheelchair user to transfer in. Her and fellow clinicians will teach us about the sport of driving, rein handling, how to stop and steer a horse, and then we will get a chance to drive the horse and chariot. Watch the video

Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures

Our friends at Casa Colina are always doing exciting fun events through their Outdoor Adventures program.

Here are a few highlights of activities coming up:

Friday, January 31st
Therapeutic Horseback Riding - Enjoy and relax while riding a horse and developing music tone, coordination, and confidence.

Tuesday, February 4th
Snow Skiing - Big Bear - Ski and snowboard instruction will be provided by the United States Adaptive Recreation Center. Stand-up and sit-down skiing and snowboarding are available depending on personal skill level.

Wednesday, February 12th
Sailing - Join the U.S. Sailing Center for a hands-on sailing experience! Learn the basics of sailing in Los Alamitos Bay and the Long Beach Harbor.

Thursday, February 20th
Whale Watching – Spend the day on a boat looking for whales off of Dana Point.

Tuesday, March 10th - Thursday, March 12th
Mammoth Ski Trip - Multiday ski trip to Mammoth! Ski and snowboard instruction will be provided by Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra. Stand-up and sit-down skiing will be available depending on skill level. *Must attend at least three day trips before being eligible for an overnight trip.

Thursday, March 18th
Adaptive Indoor Rockwall Climbing – Reach new heights by joining us for indoor Rockwell climbing at the Stronghold Climbing Gym. No experience is required!

Snow Skiing

United States Adapted Recreation Center (USARC) provides one-on-one adaptive ski and snowboarding instruction at Big Bear Mountain Ski Resort. Lessons include lift ticket, equipment and instruction. For more information and reservations contact (909) 584-0269 or visit www.usarc.org

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES)
DSES Winter programs is located at Mammoth Mountain. They have equipment and instructors to provide a wide range of snow activities for students of all ages. All lessons for skiing using regular skis, bi-skis or mono-skis and snowboarding are taught on a private basis and reservations are required. Ski Clubs
Go with a group of other adapted skiers by hooking up with chapters of Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA). Here are two awesome clubs:

The Unrecables
The Unrecables is the Los Angeles chapter of DSUSA. From December to May, They have monthly weekend ski trips to Mammoth Mountain for our members with disabilities. Trips usually include skiing all day Saturday and Sunday morning. www.UnRecables.com

The Achievers
The Achievers is the Orange County chapter of Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA-OC). Their goal is to provide a quality safe, and fun experience for children and adults with disabilities through monthly weekend programs held at the Mammoth/June Resorts every ski season. www.theachievers.org

Wheelchair Sports Festival

April 25th & 26th

Mark your calendars: our 9th Annual Wheelchair Sports Festival will be on April 25th & 26th at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.

It will feature wheelchair hockey, basketball, quad rugby, baseball, racquetball, handcycling, scuba, pickleball, WCMX and more!

This EVENT is FREE and OPEN to EVERYONE of ALL ABILITIES to PLAY!

We will provide all the equipment & coaching you need to participate.

PossAbilities

Team PossAbilities is a FREE community outreach program developed by the Loma Linda University Health.

April 19th
Triathlon - the 18th Annual PossAbilities Triathlon will be held at the Loma Linda University Drayson Center located at 25040 Stewart Street, Loma Linda, CA 92354. The event is composed of three different segments, the 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk/roll course, the 11 mile bike course, and finally the 150 yard swim course.

Mt SAC Disability Faire

April 2nd

Register for the 5th annual Disability Athletics Faire! This event is FREE for people of ALL ages and ALL disabilities.

Activities include Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Martial Arts, Kayaking, Bocce Ball, Golf, Skateboarding, Rock Wall, And more!!!!

Wheel to the Sea

May 2nd

A fun adventurous event with The Wilderness Institute, Inc. Their Annual ‘Wheel to the Sea’ is on Saturday May 2nd. This exciting community event is especially designed to serve individuals in wheelchairs.

You’ll embark on a five mile naturalist led hike through Point Mugu State Park in Malibu. The event culminates at the beach with a family style barbeque and use of specialized beach wheelchairs.

Angel City Sports

Angel City offers a year-round schedule of introductory adaptive sport clinics, giving athletes opportunities to participate, learn and train in a variety of sports.

Try adaptive golf, sitting volleyball, fencing and more.

Adaptive Paddle Boarding

Monthly adaptive paddle boarding, kayak and social meet up. Whether you’re new to water sports or a season paddler.

Meet Pushing 4 Independence at the Newport Aquatic Center in Newport Beach every FIRST WEDNESDAY of the month from 9am-12pm for some fun on the water.

RAMP Handcycling

Recreation Access Motivating People (RAMP) Handcycling conducts FREE hand cycling clinics in the Huntington Beach area on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

They have a variety of handcycles and adaptive cycles for you to use. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome to join.

SoCal WCMX skate clinics are awesome!

Watch guys drop into the BIGGEST bowls and others learn how to do a wheelie. Everyone can learn to ride their wheelchair.

CAF

Located in San Diego, CAF recognizes the athletic greatness inherent in all people with physical challenges and supports their endeavors by providing unparalleled sports opportunities.

They hold many classes from Adaptive Yoga, Self Defense, Strength & Conditioning throughout the year.

Adaptive Sports and Recreation Association

San Diego's Adaptive Sports and Recreation Association provides sports and recreation programs for children and adults with physical disabilities to ensure opportunities equal to their able-bodied peers.

They believe that every athlete should have the opportunity to play the sports they love. They host adaptive sports clinics including basketball, tennis, kayaking, and their annual Junior Adaptive Sports Camp.

Sled Hockey

The Kings Sled Hockey Team practices at LA Kings Icetown in Riverside. Currently, practices are every Tuesday at 8pm.

New athletes are always welcome. They have sleds, sticks, and gear for you to borrow. Sled Hockey practices are also in Oxnard and Bakersfield.

Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP)

Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) is a non-profit organization working to improve the health, independence and social integration of people with physical disabilities through sports, fitness and recreation programs.

BORP in Berkeley offers a number of competitive sports programs, as well as outdoor adventures, family outings and integrated cycling. www.borp.org

Cottage Rehabilitation

Therapeutic Recreation Adapted Sports & Recreation Program at the Cottage Rehab in Santa Barbara is offering handcycling/Adapted Cycling, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby, and Sled Hockey Clinics.

Wheelchair Dancing

Wheelchair Dancers Organization offers free dance classes. They welcome new dancers! Infinity Dance Sport located at 4428 Convoy #288 San Diego, CA 92111. Standing dance partners are needed. Power Wheelchair Soccer

Power Soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. Athletes' disabilities include quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and many others. Contact Glendale Rough Riders for more information on their upcoming events in Glendale, CA.

The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court. Two teams of four players attack, defend, and spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball in a skilled and challenging game similar to able-bodied soccer. For more information on the sport click here
