Important Message From Founder
December 27, 2018 Triumph Outreach UpdateI don’t know if you remember what you were doing ten years ago, but I do. We were getting ready for Triumph’s first ever Christmas Care Basket Outreach to newly-spinal cord injured patients.
That was the spark! The beginning of ten incredible years of helping children, adults, and Veterans to triumph over their disability and inspiring them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day.
And it only happened because of people like you.
As part of the Triumph Family, you’ve made Triumph what it is today…the most active and powerful community for people with disabilities ANYWHERE!
And this is what 10 years of the Triumph Family looks like:
- $500,000 in grants and equipment given to people with financial hardship who need help moving forward!
- 2,000 people with paralyzing injuries visited in the hospital, encouraged, and educated for their journey on the road to recovery!
- 60 Triumph Ambassadors trained and deployed to hospitals and support groups to mentor others!
- Thousands of athletes gathered to stretch their physical abilities at dozens of adaptive recreation events!
- Hundreds of volunteers, able-bodied and disabled alike, working together to raise awareness, erase stigma, and build a more inclusive society!
Triumph has far exceeded any of my expectations, growing into a region-wide support system and a FAMILY for thousands of grateful people. We are demonstrating that there is life after injury, there is help beyond an insurance company, there is freedom outside hospital rooms, and there is a community they can count on.
Your support has created a hurricane of care that is changing the disability community in Southern California and beyond, FOREVER.
PLEASE HELP - 2018 IS STILL IN PLAY
Although we can’t help celebrating, we still have much to accomplish before the year is done. We have not yet met our year-end fundraising goal. It is critical that we reach this goal in order to continue our life-changing work into the future.
We currently have a budget shortfall of $75,000. This money is necessary so that we can provide all the programs our Triumph Family counts on every day. I’m certain we can raise this money if we all work together.
Please help us hit the mark by sending your year-end gift today.
SHATTERED, NOT RUINED
The simple and horrible truth is that we are all universally unprepared for a life-changing injury like mine. In an instant, life as I knew it was broken into a million pieces. And stories like mine happen every day.
Each year, 10 - 20 thousand men, women, and children of every race, gender, religion, and economic class, will watch in horror as their lives are shattered by a paralyzing spinal cord injury or disorder.
On the day you read this, it’s almost a certainty that I will receive a call from a newly-injured person or a distraught family member who can’t see a way forward and has nowhere left to turn. But a shattered life is not a ruined life - it can be rebuilt. And that’s why Triumph Foundation exists.
Our mission is our unshakable resolve to meet people at their time of greatest need, to provide the support they need to puzzle their life back together, maximize their recovery and independence, maintain their health, and to improve their quality of life, so that they can truly live joyful lives with happiness and hope despite their disability.
Your gift, no matter the size, enables our Ambassadors, equipment team, and sports & recreation leaders to serve the needs of the injured and ensure that they keep moving forward with their lives.
With ten years behind us and many more ahead, will you join with us as a member of the Triumph Family by making a charitable donation? Whether you can only give a little or wish to pay it forward big time, we welcome your generosity and passion for the people we serve.
From the entire Triumph Family, may this holiday season be a beautiful time of love, blessings and connection with your own family and friends.
Merry Christmas,
Andrew Skinner
P.S. Through your gifts to Triumph Foundation you provide hospital visits, care baskets, wheelchairs, ramps, adapted vehicles, sporting activities, and incredible events for people with disabilities. Please postmark your tax-deductible gift by December 31, 2018.
