YouTube Live Streams for SCI Awareness Month
On September 27th BACKBONES is hosting a Web-a-thon via Google Hangouts and YouTube. For 10 hours straight a BACKBONES crew will be Live broadcast on Google Hangout with special guests throughout the day joining us to talk about their organizations, projects, research or just to tell us about their latest adventure! This is a great opportunity for you to learn about valuable resources for newly injured persons and the SCI community as a whole.
Check out our Ambassador Shawn Fluke, he has his own YouTube Channel, and will be doing Live Streams every Tuesday for SCI Awareness Month. He'll discuss topics like recreational therapy, self catheterization techniques, caregiver advice, and more! Go subscribe to his channel, Live to Roll.
#morethanmychair
Triumph is starting a viral hashtag (#) campaign to help celebrate the month of September as National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month using #morethanmychair.
Our idea is simple: we want to have people that are living with SCI post pictures of themselves doing activities outside of their wheelchair. Too often the general population think people that live with paralysis are confined to their wheelchairs and live a life of sedentary. This campaign's mission is to smash those stereotypes by showcasing pictures of wheelchair users doing things outside of their four wheels.
Post your picture(s) on various social media sites; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and put #morethanmychair in the caption. The campaign will take place throughout the month of September, but hopefully the message that we are, in fact, more than our chairs, will resonate.
