Transportation – ParaTransit
Most cities and counties provide special shuttle/bus/paratransit transportation services to people that have mobility impairments. Most programs will pick you up from one location (ie. home) and take you to where we need to go. Often you must go through a registration process in order to utilize the program, and rides must be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
Other options for transportation include utilizing the local bus system (which must accommodate a wheelchair lift/platform to board the vehicle), many taxi services have wheelchair accessible vehicles available upon request, and you can also find many adapted vehicle dealerships that also have ramp vans that you can rent.
