Triumph rules. Let’s go! – Jake’s Story

"Triumph rules. Let's go!"

Meet Jake, a Santa Barbara chef with a passion for the great outdoors.

When he wasn’t whipping up delicious grub, you’d find him camping under the stars, boating on the sparkling Pacific, or casting his line for the perfect catch. Life was good, and Jake was living it to the fullest.

Then, about a year ago, Jake’s world took a dramatic turn. A motorcycle accident left him with a spinal cord injury at the T9 level. He spent months in the hospital, grappling with pain, frustration, and uncertainty.

Despite the pain and challenges, Jake's desire to return to the activities he loves kept him motivated through his recovery.

However, there was a new challenge he'd have to face: his insurance only covered an older-style wheelchair that didn’t fit his needs. It was clunky, awkward, and made every tasks and dreams of adventure a frustrating struggle.

That’s when his peer mentor and Triumph Ambassador Kyle gave him a Care Backpack and introduced him to the Triumph Foundation Wheelchair Loaner Program. The turnaround time was incredible. Triumph got back to Jake within days, loaning him a custom-fitted wheelchair that was as sleek and adaptable as his spirit, transforming his mobility and reigniting his outdoor passions.

Jake is giving back in full force, sharing his story, and helping others who’ve faced similar challenges. He’s all about paying it forward, making sure others have the chance to pursue their passions just like he did.
